As schedule, I conducted an exploratory trip to Campbell River in the beginning of March 2020. Ms. Joyce Labbe from TKS Business Entrepreneurs Consultant company, welcomed me and picked me up in the morning . We boarded the ferry at Horseshoe Bay and proceeded to head to Nanaimo and then up to Campbell River. Our first place to visit was a Vietnamese restaurant named Honey Lemon Grill where we had lunch with beef noodle soup and spring rolls.

Checking out Real Estate

After lunch, we looked around for places to lease, so that I could perhaps setup a restaurant. We found Royal LePage, and spoke to Greg du Cloux, a sales representative who was most helpful in assisting me with my questions in term of the area and desired locations.

We made our way over to the Millstream shop where they supplied all new and used restaurant equipment and parts. Then to Healthy Way, a grocery store and Amy’s Asian market. Each provided me with more information in regards to suppliers to facilitate my restaurant business. needs. After a long day, we went and had a nice dinner experience at a local restaurant, we had Salmon  which is Campbell River's finest.

Sunday morning, we were off again to go an check out a building up for lease, a little diner. We then went for breakfast at Sunnyside Café. I met the Filipino lady who owned the place. She enjoyed sharing her stories on how she immigrated to Canada and she offered useful tips for food industry. We went to the Museum of Campbell River and it took me back to the roots of where it all began.

I learnt a whole lot of history and  how Campbell River became what it is today. From Ripple Rock, to logging, to the fishing industry. I had a warm dinner with Ms. Joyce and her aunt  Greek dinner was this night's choice, and her aunt  shared her valuable experience and knowledge of Campbell River. It truly broaden my knowledge about the culture, geography, and people in this beautiful city.

A quote from Hon Ly

Thank you for the trip, I made not only a lot of new friends and acquaintances, but also studied demographics, culture, labor force, and the business climate life in Campbell River.

The next day, I met with the economic department to present my business plan, and also received interesting economic overview, which encouraged me a lot to invest and contribute to a city like Campbell River.
